I write about Buddhism, Zen training and people who are making the world better.

Sometimes, this means comparing a 15th century Zen master to a cartoon dog. Other days, it means translating Zen and the art of community through the lens of a 300-person homeless camp.

I often succeed at being funny, but most of the time I’m deadly serious—in a friendly way.

On a given night, you’ll find me teaching a beginning meditation class at the Zen temple and dojo in Hawaii where I live, fighting Kendo, serving tea, doing ceramics or with my face illuminated by a computer screen.

It’s even more interesting than it sounds. And it makes for good reading. (hint: subscribe!)

Warmest aloha,

Cristina
